Peter Dixon launches campaign for California’s 16th Congressional District
Silicon Valley Veteran, Entrepreneur, and Father of 3 Girls Seeks to Serve Country Once Again
Portola Valley, California—Peter Dixon, a military veteran, entrepreneur, and father of three girls, announced today that he is running for California’s 16th Congressional District to represent the district he grew up in and continues to call home. Dixon seeks to serve his country once again by fighting for working families and delivering solutions and resources for the biggest challenges facing residents – from healthcare to housing and immigration to education.
In a video released this morning announcing his campaign, Dixon highlights his career as a combat veteran, special advisor serving under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and successful Silicon Valley start-up founder working to make the U.S. military more efficient and effective. Dixon also notes that his motivation to run for Congress is rooted in his passion to serve his country and to ensure a better future for his daughters and all families of California’s 16th district.
“I am honored to announce my campaign for California’s 16th Congressional District, where I hope to continue my lifetime of service to our country, address the pressing issues facing working families, and fight back against Donald Trump and MAGA extremism that continues to threaten our democracy,” said Dixon.”My journey from leading Marines in Afghanistan to combating cartel violence in Mexico and serving in the Hillary Clinton’s State Department has equipped me with the skills needed to navigate the complexities of our time. As a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, I’ve launched a successful start-up business that has brought innovative and cost-saving solutions to the government. My campaign is fueled by a deep sense of duty to serve my country and create a brighter future for my daughters. I look forward to listening to voters across the district and earning their support.”
Below is the script of Dixon’s announcement video:
Growing up in Silicon Valley, I learned early on that a creative spark can change the world.
I’m Peter Dixon and I’ve carried that with me everywhere I’ve been.
It’s what brought me to Kenya, where we used youth soccer to combat ethnic violence.
After 9/11, I joined the Marine Corps and I led young men and women in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Because of my experience in combating corruption, I was recruited to Hillary Clinton’s State Department where I worked with nonprofits and Federales to combat cartel violence in Mexico.
Through all of that, I saw that Silicon Valley has an essential role to play in bringing the US government into the 21st century.
That sparked an idea, to found a cybersecurity company bringing game-changing commercial technology to the U.S. government.
That innovation is now modernizing the American military, giving us the ability to free up 100 billion dollars a year that I’d like to invest in housing, health care, and education.
I’m running for Congress to be Silicon Valley’s Ambassador to America, to protect our democracy, to beat Donald Trump, and change the world my daughters will inherit.
This is my spark. What’s yours?
